PMP (Project Management) Certificate
Rank: Guest
|
Hi,
considering a PMP Certificate from the PMI to both enhance my EHS qualifications but also if necessary permit me to diversify as it does not look particularly good for EHS in the north east of Ireland at the moment and I am not mobile, i.e. cannot go to far east etc.
Has anyone any comment on how well the PMP certificate is perceived by potential employers? If it still is a qualification to pursue to differentiate my CV from others?
I understand that in the UK, Prince 2 is the PM framework often used. Can anyone comment on PMP vs Prince 2?
And on another note, a prerequisite to PMP is 3 yrs of project management experience - coming from an environment where I did project work all the time, but it was not in a formal way, i.e. often not even teams - you just pulled in people as and when you needed them. Only bigger projects were remotely formalized, but that often was limited to scheduling progress meetings and actions inbetween. I don't know the level of detail that the PMI will require in their application and what is a PM "contributor" - could I count projects where I only did the paperwork for example?
Any views / comments welcome as I have to decide soon if I am going to pursue this.
thanks a mil
