Kenny I am seeking the same thing. I have looked at Synergi but looks expensive. We were having and ISO 14001 audit this week and the auditor gave me information and booklet on a system approved by BSI called ENTROPY software. Check it out on Google. Rgds

We're going down 14001 / 18001 this year and really need to get some software package in place. I like the look of that ENTROPY, extactly what we need, big downside is its web based.

well I agree that web based can have its draw backs but what I have considered is that as a company who has ISO quality & environmental accreditaion, this would make it easier when going for OHSAS 18001 in the future. The problem is that this is an expensive and risky business, you will only do this once so it must be the right one! There are many on the market but ENTROPY comes with a BSI endorsement which must be worth something. Anyway I am still looking around for a while but will keep this one on the top of the pile for the time being. Good luck and let me know if you come up with a good system.

A good idea is to look at those companies whom attended the recent Expo at the NEC - http://www.safety-health-expo.co.uk Go to visit - exhibitor list and refine search by Computer Software/CD-Rom/Database This will give you a list of organisations whom provide such services Hope it helps

It's worth considering the benefits of web based software - it can be accessed from any location, there's no need for your IT department to maintain an infrastructure if it's hosted, and it can be extremely cost effective for large scale systems. Information can be shared and access controlled carefully, and often changes and upgrades can be made quickly and easily. Admittedly, I do work for a web based software provider (Rivo), but we would be the first to tell you if we didn't think we were right for you.

Looking at implementing an effective H&S information mg't system but pennies are tight. Extensive IT dept. Is it possible to create your own effective system in-house and how could I get ideas of how to structure such a system. Can you get access to demos without having to get a sales bod on site?

I have looked at a number of these systems over the past 12 months including the following? AssessNET http://www.assessnet.co.uk/ Rivo http://www.rivosoftware.com/index.aspx SHE http://www.shesoftware.com/index.html Target 100 http://www.business-safety.com/target100/audit.aspx Warwick ICS http://www.warwickicsystems.com/sms.asp Myosh http://www.myosh.com/myosh/homepage.nsf/ A number of these are still in the running so far as we are concerned, although as has been mentioned, funding is going to be a challenge. One of the considerations that we have is that the package must include an on-line DSE self assessment.

Clairel I would say yes it is if you have a good developer on site. I'm lucky in that regard as can do this myself.
