All part of the nvq 4 HSP13/620 module is to influence and keep pace with improvements which prompted me to enquire how other safety professionals are keeping themselves updated I have joined the Thames Valley IOSH group and will be attending their next meeting I read the IOSH magazine from cover to cover and receive email updates from IOSH and HSE.gov I also reguarly log onto IOSH and Health and Safety for beginners HSPG a great source of information and downloads and trawl the internet as part of a Major Retail Distribution chain I also access our own Intranet and attend internal meetings where free ranging discussions take place My Question is "How do other professionals update themselves? "Am I missing a good source of information? Are there other organisations other than IOSH that people rate highly? I welcome your views... Ian Jones Safety4SmallBusiness

Hi Other bodies e.g. RTITB run free information days in order to "sell" their services - I have just attended one on the drivers CPC - mandatory driver training for commercial drivers. If they don't have their 5 days training by 2014, then if VOSA pull them over, they won't be getting in their cab and driving on. You could also consider best practice by other practitioners and sites within your business. This is part of your own development, particularly if you have to research something they tell you about in order to implement it in your site. regards Linda

HSE website 'What's New' is also a good link, especially to relevant publications, including their Research reports.
