Hi all,
Im looking for any shocking case studies that I can use on notice boards around our building to raise the imporanace of H&S. Would prefer any Local Government ones if you can think of any.
Much appreciated.

Hi Marc,
I had to re-read your post... I thought you were looking for shocking case studies on notice boards and wondered to myself if such things existed.
What subjects were you looking for? Noise? Falls from Height?
Is a noticeboard the best place to post these - will they be read and the key learning points from the case study taken in?

The Safety & Health Practitioner web site is a good source of information.
The web link is
http://www.shponline.co.uk/
If you put COUNCIL in the search field you should get some cases/reports you can use.
If you are not an IOSH member or don’t subscribe to the magazine you may find that the full reports are not available.

Do you have any evidence that noticeboard are an effective way to transmit H&S messages? Similar question for 'shock messages'? I suggest you research this a bit before puutting too much energy into creating posters.

I often use relevant case studies in my regular e mail updates to mamagers but tend to shy away from 'shock' tactics. I am not at all convinced that they are helpful or effective. I regard them as a bit of a 'turn off'. Yes use 'case studies' but keep them relevant, proportionate and draw out the learning points.
