Hi
We have used Pm & Kr sources to measure product thinkness in our manufacturing process.
We have upgraded our unit and the radioactive sources are now redundent.
I am trying to get the unit shipped from Ireland to the US. The supplier will didpose of them in the US.
Does anybody have experience of shipping these units. I have a quote of 2500 Euro to ship each of the four units to the US. There must be a cheaper way to do this. Each unit weighs 11 kg.
Any help would be appreciated

A company called Strand used to do this type of work in the UK but I understand they have gone out of business and the work is now being done by a company called Bacup Transport.
I don’t know if they ship overseas but it may be worth giving them a call on 01706 220707
They may be able to point you in the right direction.
Also it may be worth speaking to the Radiation Safety People at your local university or Hospitalin Ireland
