I have been asked on a issue which i am not sure about so i will put it here for peoples views:
A fencing/landscaping company has re-new there cscs cards.
To do this they also had to re-sit their Lantra Award fencing certificate.
They have all re-new there green card - which is the basic health and safety course.
The fencers have not received there cards as apparently a man at lantra is saying they need gold cards as well as a supervisor on site.
Now these employees work in gangs on two, for large new build housing developers. The pc controls the site with a site agent there at all times.
Would you say that each member of the gang of two needs a gold card (Gold card is for supervisors and managers) ?
They have managers carry out site checks monthly.
To me it seems a bit much requesting that half the work force is to carry out a managers supervisors card ?
Thoughts please

What you are looking to do is the CSCS/FISS (Fencing Industry Safety Scheme).
To do this you must do the CSCS Operative touch screen test and the FISS Operative course and apply to Lantra for the joint card.
If its the Supervisors Card (Gold) then do the CSCS Supervisors test and the Supervisors CSCS course.
The information you recieved may be miss-leading, as you describe it.
Call this number 01291 690465 to book FISS course and ask for Nicky
Green card - This card is for a Fencing Operative who works under the
supervision of a qualified and registered Lead Fence Installer at all times.
Gold card – This card is for Lead Fence Installers or Fencing Supervisors
who have achieved the NVQ/SVQ or Diplomas in Fencing at level 3.
This link will take you to the Sector Scheme Document:

Thanks for the reply,
So would you say that there is a need for the gold card even though there is site supervison provided by the site agent and assitant ?
The company has quite a few pairs of fencers which travel to diffrent sites every day, so would be quite a few people to put through the cscs supervisors and the lantra.
Or would it suffice with two green cards and the supervised by pc ?

The Sector Scheme Document 2A/B would suggest that one of the 2 is a registered supervisor to comply with your quality assurance system.
As with these Sector Scheme documents, all vague and poorly thought out...
