Could anyone recommend a provider that will offer updates on current H&S legislation as a suscribed service? I know I can do this myself via HSE web site, but I've been given the go-ahead to look for a subscription to make the process as pain free, and reliable as possible. Ones that come to mind are Croner (too expensive) and ELUS (looks good), however, I would benefit from your guidance or direction to a reliable provider so I can commit to the right one. Thanks.

Back in the days when I had a budget for such things i used http://www.workplacelaw.net/ quite a lot, and found it pretty useful. I think you can sign up for a free trial period if you want to check it out (you used to back then anyway).

Just because you have the budget, doesn't make it the right thing to do. My personal opinion is that neither of the forementioned products are worth the money. I really can't see what they do, other than get between you and the regulations. In this sense they can be a barrier to understanding, not a faciltator. There is simply no substitute for doing your own research (and the HSE web site is a great help).

Looked at this a couple of times and glad Ross posted his comments as they are much the same as my feelings. On arrival at my present employer there were a number of subscriptions for such services, which were repetetive and costly. I subsequently cancelled all these subscriptions over a period of time and subscribed to HSE Direct/Lexis, but with the ability to get the vast majority of information free directly from the hSE site this was also cancelled. I think that most of what you want is already out there for free and easy to get at and am not convinced of the necessity or value of a subscribed service. I don't have any and I don't feel particulrly disadvnatged by not having it. What I would like to see is a move towards either free or at least more VFM access to the BS's.

Phil I have access to most British Standards through my local library website. It might be worth you checking whether you can do the same thing. LB

Many thanks - I am after BS EN 1176 and 1177 and have tried a search of our local library service but don't seem to be having any luck, but will either call them or send a query
