I am organising training for trench shoring for my company and have been asked by one of the civil engineers if he needs to attend as part of his training in becoming a civil engineer was actually designing all types of trenches/excavations. He is quite happy to attend the course as a refresher but I was wondering if anyone might know how his not attending might impact on the business as company records would show that he has not been trained and we would therfore not be able to demonstrate that he were a competent person when inspecting trenches/excavations.
Any help/advise on this would be apreciated.

It would be worth him going on a course as he is inspecting trenches and lots of regs have probably changed since he designed trenches/excavations.
