IT build room in what is technically part of a server room- advice please

Hi
we have an IT build room being created in what is technically a server room, it does not contain any comms cabinets or anything but it is a sealed room and has a gas release in terms of fire safety.
My company are looking at putting air con in here. The people that will be working in the room will not be in there for more than 2 hours at a time.
Can any one offer any advice on the health and safety required for a room such as this. The gas does have a manual switch outside the room which we could put on everytime someone is there. I am just a little concerned?
I am delivering a brief at 3.30pm, and have a little bit of info but more would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Hannah

okay
the room is based on the second floor of 3 including a GF. behind the room is a comms room. The room in question is in front of this and is being used as a IT store and build room.
The IT technicians are wanting to put more air con into the room as it is too hot at times. We are having discussions about whether that room should even be used as a build room as it is technically part of the comms room as is completely sealed and contains a gas release in the event of a fire.
Is there anything anywhere in the regulations that means these kind of rooms cannot be used for these purposes?
Thanks

In a previous company, we had a server/comms room that the IT guys worked in protected by a gas release system and had its own air con system. The gas discharge was automatically swircted to manual when the dorr was unlocked and the air con was linked to the discharge system such that it shut down if the system discharged. We also had an emergency BA located outside the door to the room in case there was a discharge with someone inside. Hope this helps.

Hannah,
I am not sure what regulations would pertain to such a room in the UK, but I do remember a similar operation in a building in London where they were ordered (by whom, I can't remember) to supply BA escape sets in case there was a discharge of the gas in the room.
This was back in 1990.

We have flood system that uses a respirable gas which from memory is 16% oxygen. It works on the basis that combustion requires a minumum of 18% and respiration only 14%. Don't quuote me on the exact figures as I'm doing it from memory. You could try changing the gas.
