Bleve. I think that you are out of line on this one. Did you expect the people who maintain this system to work a 24-36 hour shift none stop? We’re supposed to be health and safety advisors. What condition will people be in driving home after a long shift? Would you be happy if the young man or lady who worked late and rushed to get the job done quickly failed to see my son on a zebra crossing in Leic. As long as the forum was up and running again. A task takes as long as it takes to do the task. Let’s start practicing what we preach.

Sorry, Betta but I actually think that you are the one out of line. No one expects anyone to work a 24-36 hour shift non-stop. But a simple message on the home page would have been nice. I would presume that would have been within the capability of those conducting the maintenance, that is, if there was in fact maintenance been conducted. It could have just been a simple issue that the server crashed and someone rebooted the server last night. No notification was given in advance regarding this "scheduled maintenance". No explanation has been forthcomimg today as to what caused the system to be shut down for so long. If you log into the server as I do utilising the facility on the home page, you kept on getting a message stating that my username/password was incorrect. I am wondering are you one of our employees?

I am not aware of any other forum in the h& s world that has such frequent and prolonged down time and to be fair the operate on a fraction of the budget and cost of iosh. I have grown disappointed with the service provided over the past number of years

Hi, I don't find the down time a particular problem on its own as it usually appears to be at weekends and I agree to an extent with points raised by both Betta and Bleve but what is irksome is that the forum at least from my perspective is just not as useful, interesting and responsive as it used to be, combined with the down time, which over many years I never remember happening on the old forum, leads to a general feeling of disatisfaction with the current state of play. Regards Steve

Hi all Indeed the website and forums did experience difficulties over this weekend. The downtime was not expected or planned. The message that appeared on the forums was a standard message that was triggered automatically. The problem has been referred to our web development company who are trying to get to the bottom of why this happened. When maintenance is planned, we will always place a notice on the website in advance. In this instance, this simply wasn't possible. I appreciate that downtime can be very frustrating for our website visitors, but would ask you to bear with us. We are aware of the difficulties you experience using the site from time to time, and we are taking steps to improve the site and make the online service you receive more efficient. The OSH forum is for Occupational Health and Safety discussion and as such not the best place to raise issues on website performance because we don't automatically check the forums for people experiencing problems. In future, should you experience any difficulties with the website, please contact the web team directly: webteam@iosh.co.uk or call us on 0116 257 3143. We will try to resolve your problem quickly and all constructive feedback is gratefully received. Thanks everyone Anna Cooper IOSH Online Development Manager

I have never known such a mass anti moderator/discussion forum attitude as I see on this forum (And he was me thinking firenet forum had high maintenance users....). This is just an open discussion forum for all involved in H&S to share their experiences, knowledge, ask questions and debate. This forum has far more benefits than negatives. This is not aimed at you Bleve, as you normally add to the forum, so the odd negative statement can be fair, but in general the constant negativity can get depressing. I think the Mods should insist all forum users receive a copy of 'The Secret' for Christmas. This is just my general opinion, hence I rarely venture into these deep, dark waters...
