Hey all
Bit of a discussion going on onsite regarding mobile towers. Basically we have a mobile scaffold up the maximum height it can go (7.2m for this particular type). Now because its against a building face, we cant get all 4 stabilisers on, only two. So what we have done, is tie in to building steelwork at every other lift, including the top.
Is this acceptable?

applying common sense says that if its tied in properly to a suitable point by a proper service then its probably in a safer condition that if the stabilisers were used on their own and in a court a judge would want it tied in securly and properly as against anything else - just my thoughts!

suitable point by a proper service - should read - suitable point by a proper person!

Nothing wrong in using ties, ring ties or proprietary ties (like Hilti). Need to ensure that the person erecting and tieing the scaffold is competent of course.
