Can anyone tell me if there is a requirement to have a foot disinfection pool in a public showers area. I have been asked to investigate the requirement but searches on the internet have drawn a blank

None that I know of, and I inspect a variety of premises where showers are available for the public, such as caravan sites, swimming pools and golf clubs.

I know when I used to go the public swimming pool as a child they always had a foot bath to walk through first and there seemed to be a mandatory requirement to have at least one sticky plaster floating within that pool. On a less flipant note, I found this site which might be able to point you in the right direction. http://www.caromal.co.uk/Homepage.htm

Generally footbaths are no longer specified - according to the Institute of Sport & Recreation Management, apart from not working effectively, under the Disability Discrimination Act they are a barrier to wheelchair access and a trip hazard to those with visual impairment - generally showering before swimming should be enough, or you could have a foot shower. However I do have a larger piece of research on this, so if you send me your email address, I can send this to you -
