Hi can i seek some opinions on this one please. I'm fully aware that RTA's are not a requirement of RIDDOR however can i get some advice on whether RTA's, which result in either major injuries or fatalities should be included in reporting accident statistics to third party organisations when competing for new contracts, etc?

Hi there
I guess it depends what clients ask for on tender documents. Some that I complete only ask for accident stats in relation to RIDDOR reportable incidents whilst others ask for information on non-reportable as well. You would include this type of incident in non-reportable stats so you would have to declare it.

Normally on a PQQ the questions are framed as a request for the total number of accidents, in which case RTIs would be included in the total; and in one way or another as a request for the number and type of accidents reported to HSE. If the PQQ asks for 'major injuries' I would interpret that in the RIDDOR sense. I would only mention RTIs on public roads if they were sepcifically asked for or if there was a question such as 'Have you had any fatal injuries resulting from accidents'. In other words, for me it would be about how the question was framed,
