Hi Spike No experience of this but a google search for manganism or parkinson's syndrome will take you to lots of litigation in the US. There's a little on the risks of manganese exposure on the HSE website. P

Spike Tellurium has a low WEL (0.1 mg/m3), manganese has a WEL of 0.5 mg/m3 and the limit for lead is 0.15 mg/m3. So it looks like your controls are going to have to be very good! Is the proposed work a one-off or is it the start of something longer term? If you need help from an occupational hygienist, look for a local one here: http://www.bohs.org/asse...44-ab87-0c43320e12ae.pdf LB

is there any other way of cutting; Oxy-act is a hotter temp so may be quicker thus reducing exposure time? Or is there another way of working e.g. grinding?
