Hi,
I was just wondering what Job Agencies people have used and found to be good or helpful ?
I have been looking for a new position for a quite a while now and have applied to lots and lots of jobs with no luck even with experience and a degree.
So was just wondering if there are places I haven't tried yet (getting desperate now!).
Thanks in advance

I am a professional Health, Safety and Environmental Consultant and the director and founder of Shirley Parsons Associates, a specialist HSEQ recruitment company. You may like to take a look at our latest jobs on our website www.shirleyparsons.com. Should any roles take your interest I would urge you to send a copy of your CV to response@shirleyparsons.com quoting the reference of the role in question. Your details can then be passed on to one of our consultants who will then be in touch to discuss the role and your career aspirations further.

Agencies are only as good as the people within them. My advice is to look at their websites first before sending your CV. Many just add your CV to the pile and never get back to you unless you match an exact (specific) role.
In all the years I’ve been around I’ve found that the smaller agencies tend to be more helpful. Also, I tend to find word of mouth even better. Get yourself to branch meetings and free seminars, if you are able too.
Why not put a thread on the forum i.e. a profile of yourself and what you are looking for?

I found a very good H&S position via Hays.
My advice is not to just blindly register for each H&S recruitment firm and apply for everything. The best way to find a suitable position is to email or phone the recruitment consultants directly and discuss your needs/skills with them.
Well, it worked for me!

Hi as indicated already by yourself the agencies you have registered with claim to be H&S specialists, the jobs that they advertise are dupilcated many times by many different agencies. This is very noticible on Totaljobs, when you speak to some agencies the positions do not actually exsist or the client have just interviewed somebody internally, that all of a sudden has the experience and the qualifications required (Bazaar!). This is just a gimmick to get excellent candidates on there books for when they actually have jobs or positions, they would be the first to contact you if they had something as they get very generous finders fees. Keep your head up as the cream always rises to the top.
