How can Marinas store diesel next to the water to fuel boats yet in the regulations it says that diesel must be stored 10m away from the waters edge?

What a witty response, Ian. Really encourages me to use this forum more. Anyone else say move it and use a mobile fuel bowser or increase hose length? That is what Im trying to guage?

Speirsy You say that the regulations require diesel to be stored 10m from the waters edge. You also say that your long hoses don't resolve the problem, and you are still not 10m away. You can't go up, and you might as well discount moving back the sea - a guy called Canute tried that, and failed - so perhaps the only option left is yes, to move the tank! You might be wise to ask EA (Scotland) for permission to construct a vast bund, but it seems that your solutions are limited. If you're looking for someone to tell you that everything will be OK as it is, you will probably be very disappointed.

Sorry about the earlier flippant response. The oil tanks might either have been installed before 2006, or be of a 'compliant' type see http://publications.envi...pdf/PMHO0909BQSQ-E-E.pdf

Hmmm, is there a block user button on the IOSH forum, maybe canute can help me with that. Alan, no problem, I didnt take your response as flippant, especially as there were no exclamation marks in your post. Thank you for the link, it is very helpful and is based on a solid document, your help was what I was looking for from this forum, much obliged.
