Hi All, I have been asked to produce an Emergency Procedure Manual for a Golf Club which I have nearly completed, I just need some advice on how to train the staff regarding the Procedures I have set. I need aims and objectives etc. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks..

Can you define which emergency procedures you are incorporating in your manual? Ken

The fire training the club should have is: - Fire Safety Training for all staff. - Fire Warden Training for nominated persons. - Responsible Person Training for employer/manager/supervisor. The RRFSO states that adequate training is required, but does not stipulate what would be involved. As for gas leaks, bomb threats, they should be covered under the H&S Policy, organisation & arrangements, which require communicating to all employees. This would normally be covered during induction training.

BS 25999 identifies the following types of exercise which are useful for training exercises: Workshops where delegates thrash out the likely scope and nature of the plan Table top exercises where a group of people is asked to respond to a changing situation as revealed a bit at a time by a facilitator At-post exercises where people are sitting doing their day jobs and then they get the call; in this case they will know it is an exercise Live drills, John

A bomb threat in a Golf Club? If you do get VIP politicos visiting that might attract that sort of risk, they do tend to bring their own "people" with them.

Emergency procedures are most likely the same regardless of the actual cause. For example, evacuation of the club house could be as result of fire, gas leak, suspected bomb etc. You need to foucs on the initiatives which are required, key personnel involved and how you will cascade this information to others. should not be too onerous and remember to keep it as simple as possible.
