Can anyone help me or give me some advice! I am a Graduate member of IOSH, I hold NTU Diploma & NEBOSH Cert. I hold a number of other H&S & managerial qualifications. My current role is that of Operations Manager and I now want to concentrate on my career, solely on health and safety (either as a manager, advisor, etc). I have worked in a health and safety environement for a number of years but always in a managerial role, dealing with other areas as well as H&S.

I am finding it very difficult to even get a response from the countless number of vacancy's I have applied for never mind interview! Is this just because H&S roles are becoming harder to come by or is it my lack of experiance in mainly being employed as a H&S professional???!! Any thoughts, ideas, advice would be most welcome!

sberqqui; there appear to be fewer vacancies at the moment (the thickness of SHP will justify that); even those with Chartered membership and many years experience are finding new roles difficult to come by. My view is that a lot are staying put and hoping to come out of the recession still in work (myself included); once things start to gain momentum and vacancies appear in greater numbers then the flow of jobs will start again.
Batten down the hatches, concentrate on what you are doing at the moment, look for development opportunities within your current role (anything that will enhance the CV); then make sure that your CV is tailored to the person spec/JD of the role that you are applying for; there have been many offers from learned members of the forums to look over CV's; see if someone is willing to help on this front for you.
I have registered with a couple of agencies but again all seems quiet on his front, have you tried some of the specific H&S employment agencies (plenty if you search on a well known search engine)? I call the ones I am registered with every so often just to remind them of who I am and what I am looking for.
I am confident things will get better - just a case of when.
Good luck

The question is why you want to change your field. Are you looking for better salary or benefits? As you mention that you are working as an Operation manager and I think operation manager are getting better salary then a safety advisor. To work as a safety manger you need minimum five years experience on the role as an EHS superintendent or senior advisor. anyway you should try in your area or abroad. I think Gulf market will suitable for you. Good luck
