Hi, I am in the process of writing an emergency response procedure/ plan as my company does currently have one? I have looked on the Internet for some examples but I have only found versions that are for educational institutes and councils. We are a company of approximately 80 staff split over 2 sites. Can someone please give me some advice on the contents I should be thinking about? I need to write a policy for that staff are able to easily understand. So far I have considered, Facilities for fire fighting, first aid, info pack for emergency services, assembly points, fire Marshall's, first aiders and a controller, what to do as a result of an emergency. Am I on the right track? Many Thanks Will

Sounds like it, also think of Rendezvous Points for emergency services were they can pick up the information or set up their command post. Call out list for nominated personnel and their specific roles and responsibilities. Any special hazards within the area or adjacent that may need identifying (e.g. LPG cylinders, etc.).

40 people on each site isn't a great number to manage so what you have identified is along the right lines. all you are looking to do is get everyone out of the building and the emergency services on their way. This can be achieved with staff training and ensure anyone with as specific role is trained in this (fire wardens) and you document what should happen in the event. I would say keep it simple with what you record. Do you have a fire risk assessment as this should ensure that key areas are identified as part of the evacuation and that things like fire alarms and extinguishers are serviced and tested. Phil

WILL 77, You may also wish to consider what scenario of emergency either of your sites could encounter. The main hazards that will need to be dealt with. Communication. Response to assist. Resources. Evacuation. Relocation................in January minus 8 degress slippery roads, etc or heavy snow, accommodation for 40?? Regards Wizard
