Can anyone recommend any software (via pm to avoid breaking forum rules) for the above? We have just secured a client who requires FRA & Management Surveys carrying out on a few hundred properties, obviously we have had to be very competitive price wise and we are looking at ways of making our surveys and FRA's more efficient. We are looking at PDA's or Ipads as the on site recording tool but are unsure of the best software to meet ours and our clients needs. Any help/ advice will, as always be gratefully received.

i guess my concerns with such systems is that they do not allow room for suitable length of comments or the document would have pre-fixed answers and although might be OK for simple premises may not be suitable for complex premises? Would it be against forum rules to post a direct link? If you could send me the details as well Safety i would be interested to have a look to see if these type of software systems are workable or not. Cheers Phil

Those are questions that we have asked ourselves. The premises are quite simple, but the guys who are going to be undertaking the surveys are experienced and will revert to traditional reports on occasions should the software not be suitable for a particular project. Innitially we will only be using the Survey software for management surveys but for the time being at least R/D surveys will be carried out as we do now - unless the software is better than we are hoping for and there is an allowance in there to expand on the information needed to incorporate in to the report. Cheers SS, pm sent.

The notion of fire risk assessment software seems rather ridiculous to me. It seems to me to miss the point of risk assessing. When carrying out a fire risk assessment you are almost bound to come across situations where one aspect of the fire precautions does not meet industry best practice. You can either recommend that it is brought up to current best practice or you can take a view on it and take into account other aspects of the fire protection measures. If the other aspects are better than would normally be expected then you might make a decision that the benefits of that mitigates against the deficiencies of the other. I would say this is risk assessment. Software does not do that for you.
