I have a situation where we are carrying out refurbishment to LA properties, we have been told that the properties have an infestation of cockroaches but are managed by regular spraying and bait traps. However some employees are not happy to enter these properties and therefore are looking for advice on what additional measures can be put in place to alleviate their fears. I am aware of their potential to carry certain diseases but then my knowledge ends. Can the little creatures be carried to other properties that have no problems with them and can they be taken home and spread to your own property. Any advice will be appreciated. Regards Paul R

I would suggest that you contact a local pest control company for further advice or search on the web. Certain species of roach carry eggs on themselves and others will lay eggs so it will depend on the species with regard to risk of spreading. when I have entered similar situations we made sure that we did not have 'turn ups' or hems that could harbour the creatures. Also remember that they like dark spaces so are likely to move away from people. Good hygiene and clothes changing should reduce any risks. Hope this helps.
