Contractors want to change smoke detectors to heat in a staircase which is currently unoccupied but does tag onto another part of the building I suggest noas early warning is key and heat does not give it Any comments

Essentially I would agree with you - but I would be inclined to ask the contractors the reasons why they want to change the detectors then base my response on the information they provide. FH

Contractors want to ??????? danger signals! Yes please ask them why, is it following a fire risk assessment? Heat detectors in a staircase - I agree with you that smoke detectors are better. If there is a joint detector that suits the location have a think about that.

Of course smoke is always better in a MOE, but it is not impossible or illegal to use HD in certain circumsatnces. This question can not even begin to be answered here, given the little info supplied
