with the increase in homeworkers and the widespread use of electronic signatures i was wondering if an emailed accident report would be acceptable for homeworkers to report any accidents....any thoughts on this?

I think a report is a report, however it's made. For H&S purposes the next steps are important: investigate, learn and improve. For DHSS (or whatever they're called today) the prescribed details need to be recorded.

Yes, and electronic report is perfectly adapted to this type of work. However, you do need to be very clear about what is reported and what isn't. If I get a shock from my laptop power supply, I would report that as the laptop is part of my employers undertaking. If I slice my finger on a tin of beans making my lunch then that has nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, neither does me falling down my own stairs, or setting fire to my own house etc etc, John

We have used an electronic sytem for recording ALL of our incidents, near misses etc for years. No problem.
