The SHP has a story about a worker suffering serious burns after being set alight in an explosion involving a can of thinner. No quantity specified and I'm just wondering how small an amount would you allow to be in the workplace as opposed to in the proper storage bin? I often visit sites where decorators are present and there is always at least one plastic bottle of thinner in the work area. I am fully aware of the hazards produced by open containers of such materials, the invisible fumes travel long distances looking for a spark.

I have always worked to 250 ml in any one container and a maximum of 20 containers in a flameproof cabinet. The minimum to be out of the cabinet at any one time. Bob
