Isn't it scary that someone who had been the chair of BSC and another safety council could make such a grave error and then also to try and get outn of it by saying he wasn't familiar with that type of machine - well he shouldn't have agreed to assess it then!!! Are people like that really setting the standards in our safety councils????? It's scary that some people don't know where their competence begins and ends. I know I'm one of the first to ask everyone not to tar all consultants with the same brush but there are some incompetent fools out there. It would be good if the HSE published this and other examples of bad assessments, just to show others what will not be accepted (10 to 1 says the risk assessment just said something about providing guards but not what type etc)
