Can anyone recommend a training course that they've attended (or know about) for demonstrating the educational side of competence within fire risk assessment?
I'd like to find a course that actually looks at the technical aspects from within building regs (means of escape, compartmentalisation, fire-fighting systems etc), sprinkler systems and NFPA standards, flammable liquids in IBCs/drums, DSEAR etc etc rather than one that just explains how to assess risk (if that makes sense?).
Any thoughts or comments would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance. Pete

Hi Rees,
The standard text book for the NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management covers all of the topics that you mention. I am using it myself to prepare for the exams in December, so I can recommend it. The title is "An Introduction to Fire Safety Management: the handbook for students on NEBOSH and other fire safety courses".
It is very well laid out and has lots of tables, diagrams and photos. It assumes little prior knowledge of the subject. I know of a number of people who used this book as the sole preparation for the NEBOSH Fire Safety Course, and did not need to attend a training course.
(I am in no way connected with the book or its publishers).
Regards
