Environmental Health Officer - Conversion Course

I am currently studying for my NEBOSH diploma and was wondering if there is a conversion course (top up) to gain an equivalent level to an environmental health degree to secure a job as a EHO?
Whats the best way to become an EHO?
Thanks

Jon -P you should stick to health and safety right now and forget environmental health and try and get to CMIOSH Level. I tried to become an EHO several years ago when I graduated, and could'nt get a break as all available money was ring fenced for Social Work / Teacher positions in local government. At that time construction was in an upturn though and so many more health and safety positions were available. The opportunities were a lot better in construction health and safety.
Its really difficult to become an EHO currently due to the impending cutbacks at Local Government level. You normally need to spend 48 weeks training with a local authority ( often unpaid ) to qualify.
I don't know if the NEBOSH dip is a valid qualification for degree course entry though - you may have to make some further enquires.
John.

There is no harm contacting Environmental Health News and write a short article in it. Their email address is ehn@cieh.org.
I work as a p/t Safety Consultant but I was previously an EHO for 12+ yrs !
Good luck in your endeavours and don't let people put you off your dream.
