My wife and I have just taken on the Family Livery Yard, and as you can quess the H&S side is very "interesting". The Livery yard does not employ anyone directly, but my wife and I work on the yard part time. We have about 18 members of the public attend the farm on a regular basis. Could anyone direct me or advise me on Risk Assessments for the Equine Industry and any other aspects that I should consider.

There are various 'bits and pieces; on the HSE website that deal with horses; may be worth a look.

Take a look at the CIEH publication "Health and Safety Guidance for Inspections of horse riding establishments and Livery Yards" http://www.cieh.org/uplo..._Yards_Guidance_2006.pdf

The mane thing you need to consider is horseplay, you don't want to be saddled with claims. Ignore the views of neigh-sayers.
