Am looking to find a catalogue or supplier who offers a range of anti-vibration accessories e.g. handles, discs etc. This is due to the change in philosophy of risk management of tooling - rather than buy x product, let us look at the possible issues with that product and look at an alternative e.g. positive purchasing policy.
HAV is a procedure we have, but uses the generalised amber and red tag system, and it is something we need to address, and I would like any info on portable tooling/plant/equipment. There doesn't seem an awful lot on the traditional 'google' but there may well be somone out there??
Thanks
Warren

In general, going for low vib equipment is the simplest way to control the risk, and increasingly there is equipment which meets the 2.5m/s2 or lower criteria.

Most major manufacturers like Hilti, dewalt, chicago pneumatic, cengar, Makita now produce low vibration tools / equivalents at little extra cost than their counterparts, in fact they are pretty much becomming standard.
I was going to suggest replacing your old tools with newer low vibration ones, either soon or when they need replacing, but it would depend a lot on how many tools you have, the frequency of use and anticipated replacement date (we go through a tool a year probably here).
If you have large expensive and not easily replaced specialist tools it may be cheaper to engineer new handles, buy new discs etc. But I would hazard a guess that a specialist anti vibration handle and the fitting would probably cost the same as the average hand tool anyway, except in extreme circumstances.
Other option could be to engineer out the HAV potential, removing the contact time, reduce the force of the operator using the tool, I have seen large impact wrenches cradle mounted for example.
