We are reviewing our contractor management policies and as fire officer the hot works permit. We have one in place but we are looking for an all singing all dancing permit to keep the false alarms down. Any one able to offer one?

SBH Not really sure what you are asking? A HTWP, or any other permit come to that, needs to be specific for the task and location. It appears you are asking for a generic HTWP, which would negate the whole purpose of having a permit system in the first place! Apologies if I have misread your post.

PTW's form a part of the management system not all of it as you can have a good PTW in itself but if 'other' parties do not do their bit we can still have false alarms so we should be looking at all the contractor control systems

Most hot works involve the use of gases therefore the DSEAR Regs. requirement for a risk assessment covering the potential explosive atmospheres is essential. This is the starting point and should lead you to the SSOW that may or may not include a Hot Work permit.
