Hi, i am currently drawing up zoning plans for a site with regards to DSEAR. I have come up against a stumbling block.....I need to zone various plant, one being an ammonia washer which has various flanges etc and strips coke oven gas of its ammonia by using a flushing liqour (water based). Has anyone got any experience with this kind of equipment in this field? I have various sources of info but they all seem to contradict each other! Any practical info would be greatly appreciated. Steve

Haven't got time now, but wouldn't have thought the water based ammonia solution will be a substance of concern to DSEAR. I guess the coke gas is a mixture of methane and hydrogen? You can use BS60079-10 as a method of area classification. I would identify all of the chemicals/gases you are dealing with and then make sure they actually fall under the remit of DSEAR
