Hi - Wondered if anybody could give me some advice re when and how scaffold boards should be secured to structure had a case of one blowing off in recent winds (thankfully nobody hurt but a significant near miss I'm eager to stop happening again). Looking for some independent advice so that i know what i should be reasonably expecting from our scaffolding contractors. I havn't got a spare £135 in my budget for a copy of TG20 so would be grateful for any help

There is a proprietary fitting for tying boards down, they are quite flat and don't cause a tripping hazard, they can also be lashed with 6mm string or wire lashings.

Hi there,
As mentioned above, there is a fitting called a board clip, which ties 1'' boards used in tube and fitting scaffolds to the putlog below. Otherwise you can lash the boards at either end using rope lashing (6-8mm). If a system scaffold is in use, the manufacturer usually has a suitable method of board restraint available.
Note that it is advisable to ensure the staggering of standards to avoid uplift of the entire lift during high winds (should not be an issue if the scaffold is built correctly).
