A certain popular web book store has what appears to be an excellent device for storing books and other documents that are downloaded either on wifi or 3g.
I am thinking they would be useful for storing h&s material and can be carried around instead of lots of hard copy documents.
Has anyone got one of these and are they as good as I think?

My phone does a cracking job, the tablet PCs I have seen do an even better job!
I have seen tablet PCs used for risk assessment MS etc which is then emailed to me, they can display documents, pictures and access tinternet etc etc
They can also show vidoes and presentations, the list is endless.
The ebook readers main advanthage is battery life, a liquid paper screen can allow books to be read for months on one charge. My phone - a day if I'm lucky.
Not as diverse as a tablet tho.
Not sure what you need it do but feel free to ask further questions or PM if you need direct geek advice

Try this - i took a free pdf download from hse website and saved it to my PC. I then emailed it to myself and received it.
I believe the e-book I'm talking about can receive documents by email so why not send/receive the pdf ?
Then just read the document as any other on the e-reader.

As stated above, ebook readers can display text documents and do so very well. For guidance documents and Pdfs they might be really good. I think they are excellent for reading in bed and even bright sunlight, but the
trouble is their use is limited they are just a reader and limited in file types they can read.
I use my phone for Pdf files as I can DL straight from the HSE website, as I stated it does a cracking job considering it's just a phone. (and not it's not fruit based both fruit based phones have issues IMHO :) )
For safety use I think we'll all need (a non fruit based for me) tablet device, this will deliver the same abilities as an ebook reader but allow you to complete forms, take pictures, watch movies, display a presentation, access the internet.
I know tablets are more expensive, but I think you would get a lot more out of one than an ebook reader. That said if you just want a device for reference and reading they are cheap!
