Does anyone know what the scoring "breaks" between very low/low/ medium/high categories are on this tool ?

http://forum.iosh.co.uk/...aspx?g=posts&t=98271

Anyone know when this tool first became available on-line?

Ron,

The tool seems to have been available only since 2009. The scoring scale looks similar to the Defence Estates guidance which I use with the following breaks allocated to action scores between Very Low and Very High: 1-4, 5-8, 9-13, 14-18 and 19-24. These relate to the algorithmic scoring methodoilogy contained in HSG 227.

Thanks for that Danny, you tend to confirm my thought that HSE have moved the medium category up by one point, and taken some of the previous medium range (was 12-19 as I recall back in 2001) into a "high". (Back then there wasn't a "very high" category.)
That MAS +PAS =RR high/low/medium score system was, if I remember rightly, one promoted by HSE during their roadshows to support the (then) new Reg4 duty to manage, but it never wholly found its way into HSG227.
Also HSE don't seem to be able to make their minds up as to what Priority Assessment Score means. In HSG 227 it is one of two (MAS and PAS) each having a maximum score of 12; in the on-line tool they apply the term to the arithmetic total, and don't use the 'risk rating' term.
Very confusing when HSE on-line resources don't agree with their published guidance!!!!
