Hi may I suggest easing yourself in with a NEBOSH certificate and joining IOSH. Have a look at SHP online and this site www.hsejobs.proboards.com/ for an idea of work.

Suggest you ask Hazel Harvey, IOSH Director of Professional Affairs for a view on the level of your current qualifications in terms of possible UK equivalence. She's very helpful.
