Has anyone had any dealings with the Vehicle Certification Agency? I have today received a letter from them (VCA) advising that “recent research” has identified that our website may not be complying with the WEEE regulations in respect of the following: Regulation 31 – take back offer. I contacted them requesting further information and how this all came about. I have now received an email from them with a deadline for updating our website……

Carl, this is not unusual for these types of bodies. I suggest you take a look at Reg 31 and see what you are not complying with and then if necessary get some advise from someone who is competent in WEEE and go from there. Let the VCA know you are looking into the issue and set a date by which you hope to resolve it and get them on side.

Hi Carl,
I have had dealings with the VCA, who are the designated government body responsible for enforcing the WEEE regulations.
My experience was extremely positive. Like you, they informed me that our website wasn't compliant and assisted in ensuring that it became so. They even gave us a template policy which we used to review ours. Once we posted this on the website they checked it over for us and sent us a letter of compliance.
The crux of the matter is that if you are selling electrical products over the internet, you need to provide your customers with information on how they can get waste returned / disposed under the WEEE regulations.
Give them a bell and they will be happy to assist if needed. If you want to see how our website became complaint PM me..
Regards,
Ian

The VCA have been very supportive and also provided me with the template required. The problem is getting the website updated and process implemented in the back office. Thank you for all your help and support on this.
