Hi I have just submitted my IPD portfolio to IOSH - and fingers crossed they are happy - I will be invited to the peer interview and asked to undertake a short presentation and anwser their questions. I was wondering if anyone had been through this yet and if so what advice / guidance you would have to help me through this process. Many thanks and Merry xmas!! Claire

Hi Claire, I recently did mine and was recommended for chartered membership :-), you need to develop a set of slides about you, there is an example on the IOSH website which I found useful. Basically you need to cover your career, qualifications, challenges, achievements, your main responsibilities in your current role and what you want to do next. (lasting approximately 10-15 mins) Once your IPD is marked any weaknesses will be highlighted and you will be asked some questions about these and how you have or plan to address them. (it may just be that you haven't provided enough evidence of that particular topic, in this case you can talk through your experiences), you will also be asked some questions relating to what you have covered in you presentation and lastly you will be asked some questions on the IOSH code of conduct. The guys who were on my panel where great and really made me feel relaxed. Just remember it's all about you, so make sure you talk about 'I' and not 'we' and take this oppurtunity to talk yourself up a bit, a bit of self criticism is good for you but make sure you sell yourself and your positives. Good luck with your IPD submission.

Hi Neil, Thanks for your message and your thoughts! Yes I will take on board your comments - especially as you said that I need to sell myself and talk about past experiences to demonstrate my competence. Thanks again and have a lovely christmas! Claire
