Hopefully things will pick up next year but opportunities are available to me personally. I’ve worked hard to achieve my qualifications in health and safety but have not been able to achieve my ambition of entering full time health and safety (even though my part time is beneficial and I am taking IPD to achieve chartered status). However, it is my other professional skills that are attracting interest and have an opportunity to follow this. It would mean abandoning all my work in gaining my health and safety qualifications and working overseas (it will also mean months away from my family which I’m not keen about). I’m in full time employment so I can take or leave it. So would it be wise to wait and see or throw in the towel after all my hard work?

Thanks Kev Good point I also may have objections from other family members (in-laws and others) as the work is of a ‘hazardous nature’ but could lead to good future possibilities (this is what is tempting me most as opens up a number of opportunities).

Minimum contract is a year but does involve three months away at a time. It also involves tight security arrangements so your movement is very restricted. The upside is good pay and other opportunities. Another bad side is that I want to finish in my present profession and to do this would be committing back to this.

U cannot have too many strings to your bow so keep on getting strings and the best of luck as the older U get the more U will appreciate your strings People do not yet realise just how bad things are and are to get before we see any upbeat changes as this has been the best opportunity employers have had to 'rationalise' employment practices since before WW11 irrespective of all the good laws that have been brought in since then!
