I am currently filling out a COSHH assessment and have identified that the product refers to EH40 which is highlighted in the MSDS.
I have also identified that the product will be used for a maximum of one hour per day over the eight hour working day,therefore do I need to fill out this section on the assessment,furthermore the product has two items which are listed in the EH40 table, if I do need to record this information, do I add the two figures together.
I have searched the HSE website and cannot find this information.

I am not clear what you are asking. You need to address the harm that the substance can do under the circumstances in which it is used. The fact that it is used for only an hour is a consideration, but used recklessly there are many things that can kill you in an hour.
Where there are two substances with an exposure limit you do not add them. At the very least, you use the exposure limit of the lowest value - i.e. the most harmful. However, it could be worse than that as the combination of the two can sometimes be more harmful than either on their own.
Can you give us a bit more information? What is it, what are you doing with it, and how?

It doesn't matter that the substance is only used for one hour a day - or five minutes a month - it still needs to be assessed and the exposure limits still apply.
EH40 tells you what the exposure limits are. (This information should also be on the msds.) You need (among other things) to make sure the exposure is below these limits.
If the exposure is for one hour, then it would need to be at a level of eight times the 8-hour exposure limit to reach that limit.
If the substance is a mixture, then each component of it may have its own exposure limit. You don't add these, but consider them individually.
Have you been given any training on how to use the COSHH assessment form you have been given?

Hi Jane,
The product is Loctite 7471 Activator it contains Acetone 500ppm & Propan 400ppm, this product is used to cure a paste that joins and seals metal threads together such as a nut and bolt.

Don't multiply by 8. EH40 advises only multiplying by 3 in order to give an estimate of a short term exposure limit (15 minutes) where none is stated. You could be entering a regime where more immediate damage to health is risked.

You assessment is also based in what contected it is used in. If you take the basic information and then look at how it is used the assessment should be easy.
We use the same or similar product for the same task it is used throughout the site, in small amounts about twice three times a week. The assessment reflects this.
If you are using it in the shed loads then a more in depth assessment will be required.

EH 40 has excellent advice about assessing exposures using time weighted averages, and also in assessing multiple exposures.
I strongly urge you to have a close look.
