safetyman2010

Hi, We are a food manufacturering business andi have prepared our annual figures based on common formulaes used for Accident Frequency Rate; Incident Rate; Severity Rate; Mean Duration Rate; Duration Rate. We have 158 (average employees). As a site we have not completed these type of statistics previously so I have no internal rates to compare to and my Plant Manager has asked me to benchmark these figures to identify our performance. The only other place i can see is HSE Stats - but i can't make head nor tail of them or how to make my stats comparable to theirs. I suppose my question is can I make a comparison and how can i do this from my stats to relate to HSE stats. A confused and feeling stupid safetyman! 2010 Statistics Accident Frequency Rate = 1.51 (lost time including 1 RIDDOR) (This gives a measure of the no. of accidents per 100,000 hours worked.) Incidence Rate = 15.19 (all accidents- including LT & Reportable) (This measures no. of accidents per 100 employees) Severity Rate = 0.16 (This measures average no. of days lost per 1000 hours worked) Mean Duration Rate = 1.29 (This gives average no. of days lost per accident) Duration Rate = 8,296.88 (This gives average no. of man-hours between accidents)
