CIEH Level 3 Award in Training Skills and Practice

Hi,
I recently attended this course with a local provider. The course is 3 days duration, on the 3rd day you have to present a micro teach session (training session). To do this on the evenings of days 1 & 2 I gathered the information, created the necessary power points presentation & hand-outs and practiced the delivery. I was on the course with colleagues from my company. My fellow colleague to the left was equally professional in creating the session etc; however my colleague to the right (boss!) was not. My colleague to the right presented nothing on power points, white boards etc. His communication delivery was awe full (nerves) and the hand-outs prepared were of poor quality that it was difficult to understand the objectives. The learning outcomes were not met from my point of view. However the tutor of the course passed this & awarded the certificate. This totally de-valued the certificate value in my opinion? If you pay for the course & you’re guaranteed to pass, then this creates the wrong learning culture? I will admit I learnt from the course & can take this forward, however I now have to put up with the comments from my colleague on the right (boss) who feels, not preparing and taking a course seriously is the way forward. As you may appreciate I also have to put up with the miss-guided impression that my boss presentation was the best! He boasts about this in work to other colleagues and this angers me as I know thea ctual performance was a shambles and should have failed (1/10).

Thats the problem when the trainer/assessor isn't confident in themselves enough to say "No it doesn't meet the objectives, will you do it again please?" and would rather get people through a course without explaining to his or her boss that they referred a student. As was already said, don't use them again - oh and if the certificate has their name on it, pray that the person seeing your certificate hasn't attended the same course!
