Any advice would be helpful. I know that times are hard and the job market is not very good but I am still trying to get that full time health and safety position. I have a wealth of experience as an ex-military fire fighter and have been in this role for the last 28 years (maybe that’s a problem as not in a particular industry). I have been attending meetings and networking, even joined another group more locally based. Signed up with and couple of employment agencies. I work for a charity as a volunteer health and safety advisor. I am Grad IOSH and passed my NEBOSH Diploma last year and now even doing my IPD for CMIOSH. I got some kind IOSH members to have a look at my CV to ensure that looked the part. I have other skills and I am always taking on more new skills and experience (presently on a ‘Lean’ team). My present employer is not at all supportive (looked at a college course that would be good but could not get the time off to do it – reason why I did my NEBOSH distance learning) so they are no help.
