HSE seem to have messed up the download attachments. What should be a powerpoint presentation with speaker notes is actually a zip file with 2 videos of personal accounts.
I've fedback to HSE via e-mail about that.

Just to qualify that: there may well be a powerpoint, but it downloads as a "pptx" file my PC doesn't recognise?

pptx is Powerpoint 2007.

You may have come across docx, which is the Word equivalent

You can get some freeware I believe that will allow your Word 2003 to open docx documents. You may be able to do the same with pptx.

Or download it and rename as a '.ppt' rather than a '.pptx'.

I had to download a converter from microsoft to enable the presentation - all fine now.
Well-ptiched to the younger audience- a good resource.

Thanks for that appears quite useful for students and the like.
On a related topic has anyone successfully created their own "in-house" asbestos awareness and / or Un-licensed removal courses.
I am considering this in lieu of employing outside trainer for the best part of 3 days to cover a reasonable number of staff.
If anyone has would appreciate advice / feedback as to how easy this was to do?

Hi Sean

Send me a PM with your details and i will find what we have, we did ours and had it reviewed by the HSE after an incident. They gave it the verbal thumbs up.

Look at Regulation 10 of L143 which clearly states what the training needs to cover, the HSE web site is also full is full of applicable info along with photos. Also please ensure that the person delivering the training is competent and be prepared for lots of questions and ensure their knowledge is confirm by way of a test, we use a multi choice and photos to ensure they all stayed awake and we include the "How are you today DVD" which seems to relay the message quite clearly, however be aware if they have been trained before they all seemed to have seen it and will be asbestos experts.
