Information for bemchmarking is a bit scarce, I have come across Accident Incidence rate figures for 2008 from HSE and 2006 from ROSPA. The company is very keen that we benchmark against something a bit more up to date. To that end, I am publishing our 2010 AFR & AIR figures here in the hope that others will share theirs (no company name required). Our sector is industrial electronics manufacturingwith circa 100 employees.
2010 AFR 0.542 (RIDDOR) 2010 AFR 15.732 (All accidents)
2010 AIR 990 (RIDDOR) 2010 AIR 28713 (All accidents)
Thanks

is your accident /incident rate very high? why dont you review performance from within your company examining all the information gained from monitoring & auditing activities to ensure that all parts of the H&S management system are working effectively & that policy objectives are being achieved. Results can then be used to modify the the policy objectives to ensure that continuous improvement review can take place against internal standards or performance indicators without the need for external performance indicators (benchmarking)

Thanks for the answer, however, I did not indicate that the things you suggest are not happening. As stated in the original post, the company is keen to benchmark. Thank you in advance to those who are prepared to participate in this excercise.

Is no one willing to share, even anonymously?

Would give you ours but they would be off no use to you, benchmarking would have to be from similar industry.

Same here, completely different industry to yours and I think that is where you will struggle. Even a similar industry wouldn't really provide you with anything meaningful as there will invariably be differences between your figures and anyone elses, such as the criteria of an accident, working patterns, processes, demographics and so on - the list is endless.
You can only really compare 'like with like' to get any meaningful comparison and that means yourselves realistically. Sorry if that isn't much help!
