Our senior managers are considering entering a 24 hour charity walk for Macmillan Cancer, walking the marathon. Whilst we know that this is not a work activity the management are keen to complete a risk assessmnet etc for the walk as work is organising entrance and provides sponsorship for people who enter. Whilst we are confident that Macmillan have their own assessments etc and will provide information I was wondering if anyone had a risk assessment or other documentation for something similar that we could review and compare notes with.
Thank you in advance

As you are not in control of the event and therefore have not been involved in sorting of the route, facilities (such as first aid etc); then I would not get to hung up on this. You could of course try asking the organiser for a copy of their risk assessment.

I have however sent you a pm with some info that may be of use.

Nothing to do with work.
As you say the experts (Macmillan) will have this covered

Tell them you are too busy looking after real risks to staff at the other end of the food chain

If you're confident that Macmillan have their assessments, why reinvent the wheel. Ask them for a copy, I would guess that they would be more than happy to oblige. Arguably (and I aren't going to by the way) they are 'obliged' to do so.
