Hi Guys,

Needing to purchase new multigas meters for confined space entry activities and also for hot works. Now i'm hoping one type of meter would be suitable for both activiites.

We have silos of liquid (chemicals such as nitric acid, Caustic), milk and Water Treatment plants.

Occasional need for confined space entry so looking for robust meters for multiple use and with assoicated attachements for taking reading prior to entry, etc

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good device or supplier?

Cheers

Hi Safetyman

We use an MSA multigas meter for confined space entry. We are a scaffolding firm so it takes lots of abuse and it is available with different sensors for various gases etc. Quite helpful tech advice as well.

We use GSI V!SA, might be worth a look. Seems to be pretty robust and serviceable. Perhaps crokon?

I'd recommend a SPERIAN meter, preferably with the continuous intake pump for continual monitoring - will last up to 8 hours with the pump running, or up to 20 hours I believe without the pump.

I use one at my chemical company for confined space entry and safe hot work in DSEAR classified Hazardous Areas. It monitors 4 parameters: LEL, CO, O2, and H2S, and also has an inbuilt thermometer. Comes with a software package to analyse readings for certain activities, so is useful for risk assessments too.

Hope that helps,
