Can anyone point me in the right direction on what to include in a vetting form for taxi and coach firms supplying to secondary education. The taxis will be used on occassion to transport single students. My bthanks

One possibility would be CRB checks especially if they would be left alone with the driver.

Suggested items may include;
The company policy and risk assessment for transporting students, expected behaviour, carriage of disabled persons, foreign travel etc. The number, age and type of vehicles used. Training and qualifications of drivers eg PSV/PCV, Cat D license for mini-buses Length of experience of transporting school pupils. Policy on use of mobile phones. Whether or not they sub contract the work out. Insurance, MOT details References CRB

It is worth asking for inspection reports on the vehicle/s. If wheelchairs are being transported how are these secured and are the anchor points inspected by competent persons? Use of seatbelts and again the security of these? Are winches used to take wheelchairs on to the vehicles and are these inspected; including any safety switches etc.?

You may find that most of these issues are already covered by licensing schemes managed by the Local Authority. That should be your initial prerequisite. As with those licensing schemes, consider involving Police in your selection processes.
