Hi there, I am looking into applying for this course and i am wondering if it would be of any benefit for me as i am looking to go into environmental managment. My own background is that i have a MSc. in Occupational Health and Safety & Ergonomics and have over 6 years experience in the field here in Ireland. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Depending on what "green" quals you've got already, I'm struggling to see how this wouldn't be of benefit......I really liked the course and think it was very useful, however, I'm waiting for the results to come through in March *shudders*

Hi Trevtotrev, I am in the midst in handing my NEBOSH module D report in march for the completion of my Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, i also did my IEMA Environmental Associates last year and i am also thinking about doing my Environmental Diploma some time this year myself, so i am also keen on what people might say. I really enjoyed the IEMA and thought it a very good course,just a bit concerned if there is a massive step up to the Diploma

I would agree with majorbloodnok; if you have a NEBOSH background, its not so bad at all. IEMA have a bit of a cheek giving people AIEMA after an Open Book exam and only grudgingly giving the same for an EnvDipNEBOSH. Having seen the questions, Open Book looks like NEBOSH Env Cert but I'd doubt they'd acknowledge that. Echo stevel's assumption that its not the height of top qualifications, but it does add something tangible to your cv. Don't think there was a massive step up from the Open Book, but I did the Env Cert first, which was excellent because the project you do for both Cert and Diploma is basically the same, just more in depth!! Employers don't seem to know much about such things and yet more are asking for an "environmental qualification". As environmental issues with employers move from just bare compliance to actually making a difference (resource efficiency, waste minimisation etc), hopefully the value of this qualification will be recognised. That's my vain hope anyway!
