Maintenance should be carried out by a competent person (usually a specialist contractor) 12 months after installation of a new extinguisher, and at 12 monthly intervals thereafter.

Hello Yes every 12 months your fire extinguishers should be inspected by a competent person. My advice is to keep a registered plan of all located fire extinguishers this should include type and details of dates inspected and due date as hard evidence.

My company will carry out its own visual inspection by a competent person checking for dates or any sign of defects and also by a company called Fire Tech, make sure that you have all of their relevent details showing their competency and ask for copy's for your records.
