A company (fencing contractor - timber not sword) are planning to host an Open Day to celebrate their 40th year of trading . The details are vague at the moment, but they plan to carry out demonstrations, hosting some stands which could include wildlife stands with owls and other birds for children to stroke etc, and possibly a hog roast. There will be outside caterers. We are going to run it past Insurers but what should be considered do you think? Catch all general risk asssessment outlining the hazards and control measures Secure the manufacturing areas Vet the caterers and bird display folk

I suppose it depends on the demonstrations, but immediate thoughts are how close people will be able to get and any effects on them (e.g. dust in the eye, risk of injury from equipment). Also hygiene concerns from petting animals, so measures to ensure children can wash hands regularly, particularly as there will be food around as well. Adequate first aid arrangements would be an issue as well.
